I was inspired to write this work after observing my sister's dog, Daphne, asleep on my parents' couch. She was dreaming and moving her paws, like she was trotting. I imagined her soaring through the sky – and whatever else dogs might dream about. I adore Daphne and can't imagine my life without her. I wanted to immortalize her in music. This piece was written for the occasion of Daphne's sixth birthday in 2022.
